Join us as experts from around the Triangle offer informative, fun, and interactive workshops on a variety of topics relevant to your life with a not-so-new baby. These offerings are for parents, just like you, who are looking for the ongoing connection, community, and conversation, you expect and love about Emerald Doulas, beyond Baby's first few weeks.
In these classes, you’ll get more answers to your questions that aren't covered in most other parenting classes. You’ll find more ways to prepare for your family's future. More ways to connect with your growing baby and toddler, and support them throughout their early years.
Registration for each seminar is limited, and each class offering varies in price (but is listed below). Now We’re Talking: Communicating With Your Child
with, Karen Williams, M.S. CCC-SLP, Speech-Language Pathologist
Saturday, March 30, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
This 2-hour workshop includes an overview of speech and language development for your child from birth to school-age. We cover how to create a language-rich environments, and how to encourage your child to effectively communicate at an age-appropriate level. Children are welcomed and invited to participate in this interactive workshop!

Toddler Sleep Solutions
with Liz Harden, Infant and Child Sleep Coach
Sunday, April 28 at 4 p.m.
Is your toddler too busy to sleep? Or maybe those sleep problems from infancy haven’t resolved just yet? Join Infant and Child Sleep expert, Liz Harden of Little Dipper Wellness, for this two hour workshop that aims to help your entire family get more rest. Liz will help you drown out the internet’s advice on sleep and instead, discuss strategies and tips for meeting your family’s needs. In the end, she hopes you’ll leave feeling happier, healthier, and as well-rested as possible.
During the class we’ll explore:
How biology, environment, and a child’s stage of development can impact sleep
What’s “normal” in sleep as your baby becomes a toddler and other age-appropriate schedules and routines
How to set up healthy sleep habits, curb unwanted ones, and encourage better napping and longer stretches of night sleep.
Compassionate techniques to change your toddler’s sleep habits

Dogs & Toddlers™
with Jennifer Shryock and Family Paws Parent Education
Sunday, May 5 at 4 p.m.
Dogs & Toddlers™ is the ideal program for families with dogs and babies who are soon to be crawling or walking. Often the first 3 months have gone smoothly and many families are caught off guard when their dog begins to show discomfort with the new developmental changes of their mobile baby.
This program offers insight and proactive options for some of the common challenges families with dogs experience as baby becomes mobile.
Speaker, Jennifer Shryock is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (CDBC), owner of Family Paws™ LLC in Cary, NC and holds a degree in Special Education. Jennifer is also former VP of Doggone Safe a non-profit dedicated to dog bite prevention and victim support. Jennifer also has proudly served on the board member of the International Childbirth Education Association. A recognized expert on dog and baby/toddler interactions and safety, Jennifer has written and spoken extensively about these topics. Her two programs, Dogs & Storks® and Dogs & Toddlers™ have been featured in national media such as The Wall Street Journal, Martha Stewart LIVING along with many TV and radio appearances.
