Ashley Rankin Collins is a DONA International certified birth and postpartum doula, a Certified Spinning Babies Parent Educator, an IPPA trained placenta specialist, a BirthWorks trained childbirth educator, and a Rebozo Instructor. She is also a trained Babywearing Consultant with the Center for Babywearing Studies and a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician, offering free carseat checks (by appointment, only).
Her passion is centered in helping families build connections with and to each other, and helping them establish a sense of community during this important time in their lives. Her calling to doula work came after the premature birth of her daughter, when she left a career in biochemistry to pursue birth work. In her birth work, she values a grounded, evidence-based approach to support, rooted in research. She has extensive experience supporting LGBTQ+ families, VBAC families, those recovering from previous traumatic births or life experiences, families expecting multiples, complicated or high-risk pregnancies and very premature infants. Ashley lives in Downtown Durham with her husband, daughter, and two cats. She loves to cook with local foods, hike at the Eno River, and go backpacking with her family. Ashley accepts a very limited number of birth doula clients, currently. Read more about Ashley's training and experience here.
