Our Perinatal Mood Support Group is here to help when the transition to motherhood feels overwhelming. This is a judgement-free, mother-to-mother support group for women experiencing depression, anxiety, or other mood disorders during pregnancy or the postpartum period.
The group is facilitated by experienced postpartum doulas who are well-versed and trained in supporting perinatal mood challenges, and one of whom is a Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder (PMAD) survivor as well. Group facilitators can help to connect participants to local professionals within the Triangle who treat PMADs.
Perinatal mood struggles are often best treated with a combination of medication, therapy, and group support. Come join us to share your experiences and feelings with a supportive community of peers.
Meetings are always free, and are open to all pregnant women and mothers (including those who are not Emerald Doulas clients). Babies under one year are welcome to come, but we ask that older children remain at home. This group meets the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 7 p.m. The Second Monday Meetings are in-person at our office, and the Fourth Mondays are online via a private video call. Email us to be added to this invitation.
